Managed grazing by a large flock of sheep (approx. 150 - 200 pcs) in the Karlštejn and Koda NPR - 3rd part

Controlled grazing of grasslands in the NPR Koda (pastures and steppe lawns) with the occurrence of critically and highly endangered plant species by a large (approx. 150 - 200 sheep) herd of sheep on a total area of approx. 3.23 ha until October 31, 2019 at the locations: Tobolská steppe in the NPR Koda – steppe on the southern slope of Tobolský vrch [Ko 69], including the site of the cuckoo nester [Gf 68] on land no. 131/3, 131/5, 133/7 and 133/15 in ku. Capsule on a total area of ​​2.15 ha [map 3a]. – On the area with the occurrence of weevils (Gf 68) it is possible to graze only after June 15. At the ravine [DP 6 A1] in NPR Koda (on plot no. 72/1 in c.ú. Tobolka) on an area of ​​1.08 ha [map 3b]. – Marginal areas and areas with a larger proportion of brush encroachment must be grazed more intensively. Other general conditions for grazing: • Grazing on the sites will mainly be carried out in two stages in the spring and summer (autumn) period. • During grazing, animals may only move on the designated plots according to the plans in the appendix. • They may move outside these defined areas only when overrunning for night housing and for feeding. • Areas must be grazed evenly, preferably using net fences, so that there is no excessive concentration of animals on small areas and damage to the turf. The intensity of grazing will be adjusted according to the instructions of the staff of the Český karst SPA Administration. • Depending on the state of the vegetation after grazing, it will be determined whether there is a need to mow the undergrowth or to cut tree saplings on the sites, to a maximum extent of up to 0.1 ha of the total area. Part of the work also includes the cutting of corridors for grazing fencing in thickets. • The duration (intensity) of grazing at individual locations will be specified by the customer according to the current state of the vegetation. • The contractor will record the grazing according to individual areas (fences) in the grazing diary, which he will hand over to the customer after the grazing is finished. The records will include the number of animals in the herd (distinguished by species and into adults and cubs) and their changes. Furthermore, the beginning and end of grazing in each fence will be recorded here.
