Contract Description
The armed forces are in need of a young dog to be trained as a narcotics sniffer dog. The need must be met with a green search-developed dog. It is desirable that the dog is handed over when the test has been completed, or shortly after the test has been completed. Suitability test will be carried out by agreement in October 2026 at the Norwegian Armed Forces dog school, Haugersetervegen 203, 2055 Nordkisa. Suppliers with a large number of current and available dogs can, by agreement, be assessed for carrying out tests at the supplier's premises. This is assessed separately against the Client's needs in the individual procurement. Search dogs are trained to respond and mark different types of odor images in different environments. Within the search dog category, dogs are trained to search for, for example, but not limited to, drugs, flammable liquids, explosives, blood, semen, currency, weapons, buried corpses and remains. The dog must be able to work in different types of environment, such as indoors, outdoors, heights, darkness, moving surfaces and slippery surfaces. The search dog must withstand the mental stress this may entail. The breeds used today are mainly based on retriever breeds and spaniel breeds. Breeds with genetic characteristics that imply innate defensive ability and sharpness are not considered relevant. It is subject to the condition that final approval and sufficient funding is available before entering into the contract.
