In the Niederrad district of Frankfurt, a new third Main bridge is to be built to cross the Main as part of the large-scale Stadium Node project, 2nd construction stage. The railway overpass will consist of a foreland bridge, which will be designed as a steel trough, and a river bridge, which will be constructed as a tied arch bridge. The bridge is to be manufactured, assembled and moved to its final state on an existing construction site facility area. Furthermore, a new railway embankment will be built north of the Main Bridge and the existing structures EÜ Gutleutstr. and supporting structure STW FA adapted. A new railway embankment must also be built in the southern connection area and the existing EÜ Schwanheimer Str. must be dismantled. After the structures have been constructed, the existing route 3520 must be pivoted from the old Niederrad Main bridge to the new 3rd Main bridge. As part of the project, an urban pedestrian walkway must also be installed on the Main Bridge, as well as the associated stair towers and ramp structures.
