The accelerated electrification of the Eifel routes as part of the reconstruction will be achieved by incorporating 2x25 kV connecting lines as part of the overhead line system. This type of traction power supply is new compared to traction power supply using 110 kV traction power lines and substations and is currently unique in DB Energies energy supply network. Part of the accelerated electrification of the Eifel routes with 2x25 kV connecting lines is the planning and construction of, among other things, the Fischenich network coupling.
