HafenCity Hamburg GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and acts as the implementation agency in the area of urban development. Activities include planning and construction of all public spaces and infrastructure as well as the development coordination of the properties. With the Grasbrook urban development area, a mixed-use urban space with commercial and residential use as well as attractive public open spaces is being created on the south bank of the Elbe on a total area of around 68 hectares, with which Hamburgs inner city is making the leap to the south across the Elbe. HafenCity Hamburg GmbH (HCH) sells the land that has been made ready for construction; the development of the high-rise buildings and open spaces within the property boundaries is carried out by private and public developers. Due to the building authority for the public development, HCH is making a significant contribution to the implementation of the structural development. During planning and implementation, it is therefore necessary to control the builders and their projects with regard to interfaces and content qualities. This affects both technical and logistical connections in the planning and construction phase as well as functional requirements that are to be implemented for the entire useful life of the building. The control services include both private and public construction projects, including any HCH-owned projects within the area. The aim is to ensure, through forward-looking organization of the necessary processes, that the development of building construction projects as well as the planning and implementation of public development, engineering and bridge structures and open spaces proceed according to plan and as free of mutual interference as possible. The property marketing and development takes place in different phases, which also differ in the type and scope of the project management services required. HafenCity Hamburg is supported and accompanied by D&K drost consult GmbH in carrying out this process.
