ACQUISITION OF STORAGE FOODSTUFFS The Municipality of Marataízes, through the Municipal Department of Education, is the Body responsible for implementing the National School Feeding Program (Law No. 11,947/2009), within the scope of schools in the municipal public education network, involving, for this purpose, daycare centers, preschools, elementary education (initial and final years), teaching young people and adults, specialized educational services and full-time schools. To this end, in its guidelines, the legislation provides for the use of healthy and adequate nutrition, including the use of varied, safe foods that respect culture, traditions and healthy eating habits, contributing to the growth and development of students and improving school performance in accordance with their age group and health status, including those who require specific attention (Article 3, §1). Article 12, §1, which deals with food menus, provides the following: Art. 12. School food menus must be prepared by the responsible nutritionist using basic foodstuffs, respecting nutritional references, eating habits, culture and food tradition of the locality, based on sustainability and agricultural diversification of the region, healthy and adequate food. § 1 For the purposes of this Law, basic foodstuffs are those essential to the promotion of a healthy diet, in compliance with applicable regulations. In this sense, the National Education Development Fund - FNDE, through its Deliberative Council, published Resolution No. 06/2020 which, s.m.j., regulates the PNAE legislation by providing for school meals for basic education students within the scope of the PNAE National School Meal Program in which foods are sources of vitamins and minerals essential for the growth and development of students.
