The Lower Bavaria/Upper Palatinate Student Union intends to outsource its IT infrastructure to a private data center as a “private cloud” solution. Furthermore, IT operations should be ensured through managed services. This serves the aim of ensuring system availability and thus a smooth workflow and relieving the workload of the clients IT department employees. The Lower Bavaria/Upper Palatinate Student Union operates its IT infrastructure at its Regensburg location, Albertus-Magnus-Str. The servers are housed in the machine room of the University of Regensburgs data center. Access to the Internet is provided via a fiber optic link from Stadtwerke Regensburg (R-KOM GmbH). The bandwidth is 1G symmetrical. There are also VPN connections to the other Student Union locations in Passau, Landshut, Deggendorf, Straubing, Cham and Pfarrkirchen, as well as other connections to individual offices in the student residences. In addition, mobile and home office users are connected via software VPN. The following services must be provided by the contractor: - Managed infrastructure for the private cloud - Managed firewall and VPN for the Internet connection - Managed services for IT operations - Managed endpoint protection - Managed exchange - Managed backup - Transition and project management - Migration to the contractors data center - Maintenance and service level agreements - Reporting and reporting
