Contract Description
Framework agreement for monitoring common breeding birds 2026-2029 Framework agreement for monitoring common breeding birds 2026-2029
A benchmark of Bavarian environmental policy is the establishment and development of bioindicators about the state of the environment. The indicator “species diversity and landscape quality” is defined nationwide and requires regular evaluations in accordance with the regulations of the EAFRD Implementing Ordinance. It should be able to be used in state and federal comparisons and is collected annually. The data basis is the results of the “Monitoring of Common Breeding Birds” (MhB) commissioned here. The agricultural bird indicator (Farmland Bird Index) that can be derived from this is reported directly to the EU Commission. It is used to evaluate the agri-environmental programs. In addition, relevant data is required to fulfill the reporting obligation under Article 12 of the Birds Directive. The MhB provides a basis for the report, which is prepared every six years, on selected test areas in Bavaria. The data and trend calculations from the MhB are also indispensable for updating the Red List. The indicator is also used for the Bavarian Environmental Report and for the new reporting that was anchored in law to implement the referendum “Save the Bees”.
