Medical and psychological care at the Glückstadt deportation detention facility primarily serves to identify and treat physical and mental health risks of detainees at an early stage. The Medical Service of the Glückstadt deportation detention facility is to be characterised by a treatment-oriented and low-stigma approach. Section 6 of the Schleswig-Holstein Deportation Detention Enforcement Act (AHaftVollzG SH) stipulates that detainees shall receive medical care and treatment within the framework of statutory provisions. Medical care, including the examination of fitness for detention pursuant to Section 3(7) AHaftVollzG SH, is provided by the Medical Service appointed for the facility. II 201/4421-3-46 20.10.2025. Pursuant to Section 3(7) AHaftVollzG SH, detainees shall be medically examined for fitness for detention immediately upon admission. In corresponding application of Section 36(4) of the Infection Protection Act (IfSG), detainees are obliged to tolerate the medical examination, including an X-ray examination of the lungs. If the last documented X-ray examination was less than one year ago, a new X-ray examination should be waived. The Medical Service shall carry out the X-ray examination under its own responsibility, either itself or through subcontractors. Upon release, detainees may be provided with necessary medication for the first few days after release in accordance with Section 14 of the Ordinance on the Implementation of the Schleswig-Holstein Deportation Detention Enforcement Act (DVO AHaftVollzG SH).
