Description & Project Overview
The city of Essen is pursuing the strategic goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2045 at the latest. A central component of this transformation process is the decarbonization of the heat supply. There is currently untapped potential for the use of renewable energy sources in the Essen-Überruhr/Burgaltendorf area. The current heat requirement of around 98.6 GWh/a is spread over around 13,110 residential units, with natural gas currently being the dominant type of supply with a share of around 58%. A further 26% of the demand is currently not clearly allocated and does not apply
