Contract Description
DB Netz AG plans to award the extension and new construction over a length of approx. 31 km in areas PfA 7.2, 7.3 and 7.4 of StA 7. The motorway parallel route (NBS) is planned to accommodate all freight traffic and envisages crossing two Natura 2000 areas. In order to be able to handle long-distance and local traffic, it is planned to upgrade the existing Rhine Valley Railway to 250 km/h and to build passing tracks at the necessary points. The plan is to expand the existing Rhine Valley Railway between Niederschopfheim and Kenzingen, as well as the new line on the A5.
