Contract Description
The Flemish Region has a slipperiness measurement system that aims to provide all Flemish road districts with sufficient information regarding: whether or not to salt the roads. The slipperiness measurement system consists of the following parts: ● 57 stations with sensors in the road surface; ● 38 stations with optical measuring sensors next to the road surface; ● a central system for processing the data; ● a road model developed and maintained by the RMI for forecast data; ● a web application managed by the RMI for the presentation of all data. The object of this assignment is to optimize, expand and maintain the slipperiness measurement system, with the exception of the road model and the web application. Corrective maintenance is ordered according to the price list (due to “third parties” or extensions, adjustments to the existing network) with a warranty period of 2 years. Maintenance also includes a number of small additional orders aimed at improving the operation of the equipment, expanding or changing the configuration of the measuring network, or improving information flow in connection with the measuring network. The goal that the contracting authority pursues in this assignment is to ensure the proper functioning of the measuring sensors, data processing, data communication and peripheral equipment of the entire system. This is so that reliable measurement data for the slipperiness measuring system can be obtained through continuous availability during the winter service, which runs from the third Monday in October to the fourth Monday in April.
