Type of contract: Services Description: The Blockland landfill is located on the western edge of Bremen in the immediate vicinity of the A 27 Bremen - Bremerhaven (see Figure 1). The first landfill section went into operation in 1969. Since then, the landfill has been expanded at irregular intervals. In its current state of development, the block landfill consists of an active landfill section of class I (approx. 3 ha), an active landfill section of class III (approx. 11 ha) and an old part of class 0 that is in the decommissioning phase. The total landfill area is approx Class III landfill section and a combined heat and power plant for the utilization of the resulting landfill gas. At the landfill site there are several photovoltaic systems, two wind turbines and the Blockland recycling station, Bremen's largest recycling station in terms of customer frequency and waste volume.
