The 800er-Project of Jenaer Nahverkehr GmbH will gradually replace the fleet of vehicles on tramways by new acquisitions. In this context, adjustments to the existing track infrastructure are necessary to the new vehicle parameters. This also applies to the Burgaupark stop. It is a two-lane stop, which can hold two tracks in succession in each direction. In order to ensure this in the future, both tracks must be extended for longer vehicles. The purpose of the construction is to adapt the stop geometry, including the bus track, due to the changes in the length, width and direction of the tracks.
