Description & Project Overview
High speed cameras 2 high-speed cameras Two high-speed cameras are required to set up a fast X-ray detector. The cameras film a fluorescent screen that converts X-rays into visible light. The images to be recorded from the fluorescent screens in question are very faint and therefore require a camera with high light sensitivity combined with a high frame rate and low noise and a very good signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) with small gray values. Since the camera is used in the area of X-rays, shielding is necessary. Therefore, it is important that the camera has a small design in order to keep the protective housing small and light. The camera must provide the data in a RAW format whose format is disclosed. For the planned application, data sheet values regarding brightness and image quality from different manufacturers can only be compared to a limited extent. Therefore, for the final assessment, the cameras should be tested at Fraunhofer EMI in a specific application and checked for the following parameters in order to obtain an objective comparison measurement: gray values at specified dose values, dynamic range, SNR and dark noise.
