Description & Project Overview
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) requires the supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of seven (7) Controlled Endoscope Storage Cabinets (CESC) and fourteen (14) Automatic Flexible Endoscopic Re-processors (AFER) for the Kimberley, Goldfields, Great Southern Midwest and South West regions, in addition to the supply of associated consumables and service, maintenance and validation. Further purchases may be made on an as required basis during the term of the Head Agreement. The Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and Gastroenterological Nurses College of Australia (GENCA) have mandated the use of Controlled Environment Storage Techniques (CEST) as a risk-mitigating strategy to prevent biofilm proliferation in endoscopes' inner channels and transmission of infections, particularly highlighted by COVID-19 risks. The current storage arrangements for endoscopes in the regions do not sufficiently mitigate these risks, necessitating CEST’s compliant with European Standard EN 16442. AFERs automate the reprocessing of endoscopes, reducing human error by precisely controlling cleaning, disinfection, and drying cycles. They feature advanced monitoring systems to track and correct deviations and include safety features like automated leak testing and chemical dosing, enhancing patient safety. Monitoring the reprocessing of endoscopes with AFERs supports compliance with Advisory AS24/01 by ensuring that all steps in the reprocessing cycle are accurately tracked and recorded. WACHS intend to establish a Head Agreement with orders (Customer Contract/s) awarded by region with either a single Contractor or a panel of Contractors to meet the requirements. The awarded Contractor/s should be able to provide both pieces of equipment if requested and Orders may be placed on an ‘as required’ basis over the term of the contract.
