Contract Description
Award Notice F--SEKI 326438 PHASE 2 / Mitigate Tree Hazards, KNP Complex Wildfire
The intent of this contract is to mitigate roadside tree hazards and future wildfire risk within the burn perimeter of the 2021 KNP Complex Wildfire in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Fire-killed and weakened trees present the threat of falling onto roadways and parking areas and endangering roadway users. Areas subject to tree hazard mitigation include approximately 38 miles of roadway along the Generals Highway, Mineral King Road, and Redwood Saddle Road, and approximately 20 acres associated with the Red Fir Spray Field facility (references to roadside tree hazards in this document include the tree hazards at the Red Fir Spray Field). In addition to mitigating standing tree hazards, the contract includes treatment of woody debris to reduce its capacity as fuel for future wildfires, from both contract cutting and pre-contract cutting operations by NPS, up to 80 feet from the road¿s edge. Aerial video images of existing downed trees needing removal will be made available as part of the solicitation for this contract.
