Internal identifier: PR1295442 - 3220 - I Title: Divisional applications for patents in the field of video coding Description: Divisional applications for patents in the field of video coding Contract type: Services Description: The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft for its institutes Fraunhofer HHI and Fraunhofer IIS (hereinafter: client) intends to procure patent attorney services to support the internal patent department for the divisional application, procedural conduct, defense and maintenance of intellectual property rights in the field of video coding. The subject of the support is the partial application for patents (parent applications), which essentially represent the contributions developed by the client's institutes to the international video coding standards of the H.26x family - in particular H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC and H.266/VVC as well as their extensions and successor standards, as well as related standards for transmission and system integration (e.g. MPEG-DASH). Standardization takes place in the committees ITU-T SG 21 / ISO-IEC JTC 1/SC 29 (JVET, MPEG). Significant parts of this portfolio are standard essential patents (SEP). They are primarily exploited via patent pool programs and bilateral license agreements. The quality of the patent attorney's service - in particular the reliability of deadlines, the quality of the drafting of priority applications and the standard-related design of the patent claims - therefore has a direct influence on the client's significant, recurring assets.
